Having been in the interior design field for over 25 years, I have picked up a few tips along the way. A few years ago I owned a faux finish company in San Diego called European Finishes. I worked in multi-million dollar homes with clients that had no limit to how much they could afford to spend on decorating their home. Of course in the real world people usually have a much smaller budget, especially new parents.
Here are just a few of the things I learned and some ideas of my very own.
Princesses come in all colors, so why shouldn't their rooms? I have seen nursery rooms in a classic black and white with one other color like periwinkle added for a color punch. Small crystal chandeliers can be found that aren't made from Swarovski crystal but look just as elegant.Another wonderful design idea is murals. Now the wealthy may have the funds to hire an artist like myself to paint a trompe l'oeil of a far away land with a castle , but on a budget you can find wall paper murals that are simple to put up in just a few hours yourself. What would a princess room be without a canopy bed.Sometimes you don't want a canopy crib, you want to buy a bed that can be a crib today and a twin bed in a year or two. The solution to that is a bed crown. Most companies that make bed crowns only offer them in a few select colors but I have a shop that not only paints your bed crown in absolutely any color at no extra cost but they also come with added beaded trim and an initial. I have seen bed crown sellers that charge extra for everything from painting it a color other than white to charging an extra 25 dollars just to add an initial. I hope you have found my information helpful and I would love for you to visit my shop and see my custom made bed crowns that are perfect for your princess.
